The Society is looking to recruit a full time senior underwriter to work as part of our fantastic underwriting team.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience in complex mortgage underwriting and be expected to work towards the following.
- Underwrite higher mandate/technical applications to offer,
- To liaise with the sales team in taking into consideration time pressures/management of broker expectations; as well as maintaining standards to ensure fair outcomes/customer journey
- Identify improvement opportunities to lending policy, underwriting processes and procedures
- Set out proposed changes with solid proposals, the case for them/and rationale in detail
- Manage escalations and resolve technical queries from team members
- Coach and provide benefit of experience so that staff develop through the skill levels
- Playing an active role in supporting the Broker Hub & Underwriting Lead with the daily plans, performance, quality and culture that are encouraged within the team
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and characteristics:
- Excellent communication and negotiating skills, and ability to handle delicate situations with diplomacy and resilient to overcome problems
- Ability to maintain productivity and quality
- Analytical, with sound judgement and solid decision making skills

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, confident and reliable team member. Committed to exceptional customer service by having excellent interpersonal skills effectively communicating with our members, you will need a good standard of education and will want a position that offers a challenge and the use of initiative.
To fulfil the role of the Customer Service Assistant you will have excellent communication skills with the ability to promote the Society’s products and services. You will also provide an efficient cashiering service to our customers. Whilst customer service experience would be preferred it is not essential as training will be provided to the successful candidate.
Working hours – 36¼ hours Monday to Saturday (Saturdays on a rota basis)

The Society is looking to recruit a full time Trainee Mortgage Underwriter to join our successful and busy team in the Mortgage Department.
The successful candidate will be expected to carry out a detailed assessment of all types of mortgage applications, liaising with professional intermediaries, customers and colleagues to provide a high standard of customer service.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a range of skills including the ability to:
- learn new skills quickly and to a high standard
- adopt a “can-do” approach to overcoming the challenges of working as part of a very busy team
- communicate in different forms at a level appropriate to the circumstances
- solve problems across a varied range of scenarios
- accurately apply a set of defined criteria when assessing applications
- make subjective common sense decisions where appropriate
- work flexibly according to the business need
- Proactively seek opportunities for personal development.
Ideally applicants should possess the Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP) or equivalent.
Working hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
