Local people have donated almost £3,580 for the East Africa Crisis Appeal through Furness Building Society’s branch network. The cheque has now been sent to the Disaster Emergency Committee co-ordinating fund-raising to help famine and drought victims in Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya where millions of people are struggling to survive.
Investment Administration Manager Jill Probert who co-ordinated the collection said: “Local people have been extremely generous in supporting the appeal and we were delighted to hand over this substantial amount to such a worthy cause.”
