Rosemere Cancer Foundation receiving donation cheque from Furness Building Society

Furness savers give £10k boost to Lancashire charity

Account holders of Furness Building Society’s Community Affinity Account have collectively helped to raise over £10,000 for Preston-based Rosemere Cancer Foundation this year.

The donation, which will help bring world class cancer treatments to cancer patients, forms part of Furness BS’s ongoing support for Rosemere Cancer Foundation over the past 15 years. So far this has seen donations totalling £317,688.

Donated directly by Furness Building Society, the charitable donation is based on the collective savings held by Community Affinity Account holders who opt to link their accounts to Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

Through the Community Affinity Account, members can support local charities close to their hearts across the North West. Every year, Furness Building Society makes a donation to each charity from its own profits, based on the total amount saved in all accounts throughout the year.

Rosemere Cancer Foundation is one of a range of charities members can support. The charity works to provide treatments and services to cancer patients at Rosemere Cancer Centre and eight other local hospital cancer units across Lancashire and South Cumbria.

Rosemere Cancer Centre is the region’s specialist cancer treatment and radiotherapy centre at the Royal Preston Hospital. Rosemere Cancer Foundation helps fund cutting-edge equipment, clinical research, staff training and innovative services.

Sue Swire, Fundraising Manager at Rosemere Cancer Foundation, said: “We are immensely grateful to Furness Building Society for its continued support. A donation of this size for a charity of our size is immense. Thank you to all Furness Community Account holders, who have their accounts linked to us. You have helped and are continuing to help thousands of local cancer patients have an improved treatment journey.”

Kate Bethell, Branch Manager at Furness Building Society, commented: “We’re delighted to continue to support Rosemere Cancer Foundation through our Community Account. We are part of the same Lancashire and South Cumbria community served so well by Rosemere Cancer Foundation and we hope this payment can help it continue its great work.”
