Refurbishment underway at Furness Building Society's Millom branch

Furness Building Society has commenced work on the transformation of its Millom branch on Market Square in the town centre.

The new, enhanced branch will reopen in early December, boasting a new exterior design and interior layout, having been remodelled to create an inviting, relaxing space for members.

The branch will temporarily close from 27 October, and refurbishment work is set to complete in December when the refreshed branch will fully reopen with an open-plan space organised into distinct zones for specific services and the traditional counter replaced with a meet-and-greet desk.

The new look captures a strategic shift from transactions to interactions within a more engaging environment, enabling the branch team to spend quality time alongside members to better understand and support their needs.

The sizeable investment forms part of an extensive branch-wide transformation programme, which is underway across the Furness Building Society estate.

Debbie Dobson, Millom Branch Manager at Furness Building Society, said: “We’re really excited to be bringing our new look and feel to Millom town centre. We’re proud to be investing in the town and creating a space that’s welcoming, comfortable and designed around the needs of our members. While we’re closed, we’ll still be able to help our members from our other branches and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we work hard to enhance the Millom branch experience.”

Simon Broadley, Chief Executive at Furness Building Society, commented: “We’re really looking forward to unveiling our new Millom branch in December. Providing a modern and welcoming environment for our members in the town is part of our strategy to ensure we grow sustainably and remain relevant as a building society for the future. We thank everyone for bearing with us while this important transformation takes place.”
