Furness Building Society Supports Dalton Amateur Rugby League Football Club

Rob Cairns, Chief Executive of Furness Building Society was delighted to present Ron Beardsworth, Honorary Secretary of Dalton ARLFC with a cheque for £100. Ron thanked Furness Building Society for their generous donation of £100, he commented that 'The money will be used to purchase training/coaching equipment which will allow our Coaches to teach the core skills required to play Rugby League, The Club has four junior sides, Under 8's, Under 10's, Under 12's and Under 14's and all the sides will benefit from the use of the new equipment.'

Also present, Dean Kelly who is 32 years old and comes from Walney Island. As well as helping with the supervision of the youngsters who play Mini Rugby at Dalton ARLFC he is also keen at other sports and in due course he intends to qualify as the first Dwarf coach in Rugby League. Dean will be competing in the Dwarf Olympics in Ireland later this year. Dean will compete in the Power Lifting event which is his speciality and he is hoping to break the world record at the Games. He will also be representing his Country at Football as well as Athletics. 'We are proud to be able to encourage people like Dean to join our Club and we are trying to help raise money to pay for the accommodation, equipment and travelling expenses that he will incur whilst trying to realise his dream of competing in the Dwarf Olympic Games' added Ron.
