Furness Building Society was delighted once again to support the British Heart Foundation with their National Heart Month.
The Society's branches sold pin badges in support of the event and Barry Fitzsimmons, Branch Regional Manager, completed a half marathon in Blackpool in order to raise money for this worthy cause. In all, customers and staff managed to raise a fantastic £454.45.
Whilst February was a dedicated fund raising month, you can give your support at any time throughout the year by opening a British Heart Foundation Affinity Account with the Furness. Each year Furness Building Society makes a cash payment to the British Heart Foundation equal to 1% gross interest on the average total balance held in the account. For 2008 British Heart Foundation received a record amount of £6,714.91 as a direct result of the affinity account.
Rob Cairns, Chief Executive of Furness Building Society commented, "Our affinity accounts definitely create a win, win, win situation. A customer wins by earning interest, British Heart Foundation wins by receiving a valuable amount via the Society and the Furness wins by knowing it is helping a really great cause."
Ray Short of the British Heart Foundation said "I am absolutely delighted with the support we receive time after time from the Furness. Last year, I was lucky enough to have the most successful branch throughout the country and this would not have happened were it not for Furness Building Society and the time and effort given by staff."
