About 'Green' Furness
What are we doing to become greener?
At the Furness we are keen to become a greener society for our members, customers, business partners and staff. We are continually looking at effective ways of improving our ‘green’ credentials and have already taken some steps towards a greener environment:
- Re-cycling of plastic, glass and cardboard in Head Office and Branches
- Re-cycling of printer cartridges
- Use of 75% recycled paper for the production of our member magazine 'Rapport'
- All our letters are written on paper made from sustainable sources
- Reminders on all e-mails to 'think before you print'
- Use of electronic communications
- Teleconferencing instead of travelling
- Use of train travel when necessary to attend meetings outside the area
- Provision of mortgage products for 'green' home purchase, home improvements and moving your mortgage
- Switching off electrical appliances where possible
Becoming more environmentally aware and greener as an organisation is an ongoing programme and in many cases we have taken up suggestions from staff to develop ideas. Further work in this area will be done as we move forward to a greener society.
